ISTA’s 22nd Annual Congress which took place on the Big Island, Hawaii, USA, October 22-24, 2009, was a great success with more than 543 attendees from 22 countries. The number of scientific oral and poster presentations (564) was impressive and the scientific level of these presentations was rated excellent.

These presentations included 22 invited speakers from 7 countries presented impressive papers demonstrating the current state-of-the-art in different aspects in arthroplasty. Furthermore, CEOs from six of the major companies in arthroplasty participated in a “CEO Roundtable” to share their view about the future. This CEO session was highly appreciated by the participants.

Additionally, ISTA’s Board of Directors would like to thank the 18 commercial vendors who helped to sponsor the Congress. Without their support, the organization of this meeting would have been simply impossible.

Doctor Douglas Dennis and Professor Richard D. Komistek and his Planning Committee are to be commended for a record setting meeting.
